2016 AGM

AGM Report

In his presentation to the members club manager Mike Brown explained that 2015 had been a challenging season with the bad weather in May and July, plus the change to the drink drive law reducing the visitor and bar income. The feed-back that the course was in an excellent condition was received from members and the many visitors that enjoyed outing or played in the club Open competitions. The continued work on the drainage programme and volunteer culture of members has helped Jim Sievwright and his green staff to keep the course in excellent condition. Mike also reported that the club had a net increase in membership numbers with many young adults joining the club. The Social events organised by T & H team go from strength to strength with the addition of a prize giving dance the members and guests enjoying the events, while T & H team raised almost £13k towards club funds. Mike informed the members that the committee would continue to implement the Business Plan, with the Marketing Sub Committee working on a membership recruitment programme. In closing his presentation the members were informed that in addition to the many clubs that King Jimmy have a reduced fee reciprocal agreement, the committee have agreed an arrangement where Letham Grange GC is added to Ballumbie Castle, Whickham (Newcastle) and Perth Royal (Australia) that King James VI GC members can play free.

Douglas Taylor retired as Club Captain and Dennis J Brown was elected as the 66th Captain of King James VI GC.

Ian Wotherspoon and Alan McCully were elected to committee, leaving three vacancies.

Post AGM Note - Retiring Committee Members

Incoming Captain Dennis J Brown would like to thank the following retiring committee members for their service to King James VI GC, Bill Scorgie for his many years on committee and as Finance Convener since 2005 he helped guide the Club through difficult financial conditions. Ron MacLeod has also served many years becoming Match Secretary in 2007 (Ron is carrying on as Match Secretary but will be looking for assistance to join a Match Sub Group). Moira Lumby for the years as Ladies Captain and Vice Captain also her work on the Marketing Sub Group (Moira is going to continue helping with marketing and is also going to take over as the new Junior Convener). Nolan Miller served on the Marketing Sub Group but has had to retire from committee because of work commitments, Blair Smart for his time leading the Senior Section as Captain and Vice Captain and Dougie Blues who resigned during the season.
