King James VI GC Club Championship Scratch Final

The 36 hole final was played between Ryan Wight and Graeme Swan, Ryan started with a ball out of bounds but then birdied the hole with his second ball to half the hole, he then won the 2nd, 4th and 6th to go 3 up, Graeme birdied the 7th and 10th to get it back to one down. Ryan the birdied the 11th and with Graeme having tree trouble at 12th, Ryan went back to 3 up, Graeme birdied the 15th to bring it back to 2 down, but lost the 16th to par and with the 17th and 18th halved Ryan was 3 up at the halve way stage. Ryan made it hard for Graeme by starting the second round with 2 birdies and with the 21st shared in 3, Graeme was now 5 down, Graeme had a good chance to get one back at the 22nd but missed his 6' putt, the next hole was halved in par 3's. Graeme had another chance to reduce the lead at the 24th but again missed a short putt. The next hole was halved and the at the par 5 Graeme had tree trouble and lost the hole to Ryan's conceded birdie. Both were home in two at the 27th but missed their putts to halve the hole in 4. The 28th was shared in par, at 29th Graeme was on the back fringe in 2 and Ryan was 15' away in 3, Graeme was too heavy with his downhill putt and went about 10' past, Ryan then holed his putt and Graeme missed his return putt to go 7 down with 7 to play. Ryan played the 30th conservatively with an iron to 80 yards short of the green, Graeme had to go for the green with his driver but unfortunately caught the trees on the left and could only chip out, Ryan played to the centre of the green, Graeme played a very good chip to 3', but this left Ryan knowing he had 2 putt to become Club Champion and he made no mistake just missing his birdie. Congratulations to Ryan, commiserations to Graeme the match was played in good sporting spirit with good shots being acknowledged, also thank you to Ashley Routledge (morning) and Fraser Craig (afternoon) for giving their time to referee the Scratch Final. Ryan will now be trying to make it a double when he plays Michael Bissett in the Handicap Club Championship 36 hole Final on Sunday 3rd July.
